Juno

Our friend and neighbor, Luna, commissioned this portrait of her family's dog, Juno, as a gift for her son, Windspirit, for his birthday.

Weeks ago I visited on a beautiful, sunny afternoon and was able to take photographs where I got to meet Juno who is an absolute sweetheart. She's the kind of big dog that comes up and leans her body into yours - a true love bug who won my heart.

Juno carried around a big stick, her prized possession that she obviously wanted me to see. On the tour of their farm, Luna showed me the family's persimmon tree had that produced a huge crop of beautiful orange persimmons this year and I learned that Juno loves persimmons and likes to eat them. Luna sent me home with bag full of that gorgeous fruit for Carmen and me to enjoy...and we did!

So this is my portrait of Juno, on the family's farmstead, showing off her treasured stick, a big juicy persimmon, and totally winning me over.
