My family owned Burkle's Bakery/Restaurant in Memphis, TN and as a child in the 60s I spent a lot of time there. Now as a painter, I realize how much I was influenced observing the process and creation of beautiful, delicious food and desserts. This series is a tribute to farmers, truckers, grocery/restaurant workers, chefs, servers and all behind the scene from seed to plate to fork. With much gratitude, these paintings are my way of saying, "Thank you!".

When I began creating my garden 25 years ago, my love of plants and flowers was my guide. Now that my garden is established, I enjoy painting seasonal flowers and displaying them in the various antique vases that I've collected over the years. In 2023 my award-winning film, "Flora Of The Fields", was released and the making of that film deepened my love and knowledge of cut flowers grown by master horticulturalists, Winnie Pitrone and Andy Mackey. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by nature's beauty and plant enthusiasts on the Mendocino Coast of Northern California.

Maybe the next best thing next to loving animals is painting them.
